My name is Margo Macdonald. I’m an artist working in handwoven tapestry and painting. I live on the Key Peninsula, the most westerly peninsula in Puget Sound, Washington. Most of my work stems from living here, the water, tides and skies that surprise me every day. It’s like being on the bow of a ship as the storms blow in from the west and how the wind and tide resculpt the beach on a regular basis. I started painting when I was in high school and focused on it in college, briefly attending the Rhode Island School of Design. I have been working in tapestry since my oldest daughter was a baby, having given up dyepots on the stove and paints spread out on the dining room table. Tapestry was a way to create images that could be dropped at a moment’s notice to attend a crying baby. Now that my girls are grown and gone, I have “retired” from my teaching job and am active on both the loom and the easel. You can see more of my work at http://www.margomacdonald.com.
